SfK Newsletter Vol. 2016-4 April 11, 2016 View this email in your browser "For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross." (Colossians 1:19-20)   5 P's of Missional Business People often talk about the 4 P's of Marketing Mix: price, product, promotion, and place. However, in the service industry, these 4 P's are expanded into 7 with the addition of people, process, and physical environment into the mix.  A  missional business  is unique, however, in that it serves a different purpose. For this reason, an effective missional business adopts a basic 5 P Model with two additional Ps we can take into account.   1. It starts with the  PURPOSE . What is a missional business for? What impact does a missional business aim to produce? It should be at the center o...

SfK Newsletter Vol. 2016-3 March 10, 2016 View this email in your browser "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." (Genesis  2:15 )   Work is Honorable Throughout history, people have fallen into a trap of dualism. Christians have created this dualism by separating the holy from the unholy. Traditionally, those involved in full time ministry, the works of the church, and missions were considered "holy" or "religious" while others involved in the so-called "secular" or "earthly" works were considered "unholy" or "less than religious." In Genesis  2:15 , we find two missions that God gives humanity even before sin came to exist--one is to work and the other is to manage.  It is clear God calls us to work.  No wonder Jesus declared that He was  working  as the Father was still  working  in this day. (John  5:17 ) All work, as long as they...

Ministry Update - January 2016

We at SfK Ministries had a wonderful and grateful start in January 2016. Here are some highlights: 1. In less than a month, we received approval from the IRS on our application for a 501(c)(3) tax exemption status. Halleluja! One of new foundations told me that it has taken them 8-9 months. We submitted the application on December 23rd and we received the approval on January 12th. I trust that the good and faithful Lord was working behind the scene. 2. Because of this expedited approval from the IRS, we also received a pledge from Salesforce.com for non-profit a total of 10 user licenses for free! This company's database application is being used at more than 30,000 non-profit organizations. This should be worth tens of thousands of dollars. We are deeply grateful for God's grace. 3. We have two brothers who are long experienced in database management and are working diligently to explore and learn about the features of Salesforce.com database application. We will use ...

Officially Approved as a 501(c)(3) Organization by the IRS

Praise the Lord! I have seen and heard about many miraculous stories in the bible and real life, but if there is anyone who does not believe in them, this is surely one. SfK Life Corporation, the US operation for SfK Ministries held its board meeting on December 11, 2015, approving the amendment to its Articles of Incorporation and adopting some policies. On December 23, 2015, in the midst of busy time before Christmas, we managed to submit our application to the IRS for the tax exempt status. On January 12, 2016, the IRS issued its approval letter without any condition attached to our application. The IRS approval the tax exempt status application only in three weeks? Particularly around the Christmas and New Year time? No way! I heard that one of the foundations submitted the same application in April 2015 and received approval in December. That was eight months! I could not believe it! But that is how God works and demonstrates His power. We firmly believe that the ...

The Genesis: SfK Ministries

When the Lord makes it clear that He has invested so much in you for a reason, you'd better surrender. The more quickly you surrender, the lesser struggle you suffer. Apparently, I was not as discerning His will and plan as I thought I was. I ended up struggling for two years in confusion and uncertainty. Now I have accepted His calling, I am at peace. The Lord has helped me understand that He has invested so much in me for a reason through education, banking experiences, management and leadership experiences, Christian education, stewardship ministry, philanthropic charity foundation experiences, mission mobilization experiences, teaching experiences even Christian micro-finance experiences in Rwanda. The reason was that I have been prepared to start a ministry to mobilize financial and intellectual capital in the U.S. and Korea to support missional businesses (BAMs) in Asia and Africa so that they may produce holistic transformation in the lives in the nations where ...
